The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator has completed the selection process for the recruitment of its pioneer staff. The recruitment process launched in May 2022 with calls for application over the CRTV national station and the CRTV regional station South-West region came to end after the conduct of interviews from the 20th to the 22nd of July 2022 at the Office building situated within the confines of Buea station.
Following the radio announcement, the Office received a total of 94 application files for the positions of Research Officers, Executive Officers and Support Staffs. An initial screening exercise was conducted to determine the applicants whose files had the requisite documents of eligibility. At the end of this exercise, forty six (46) were retained for interviews.
Speaking to the candidates before the beginning of the interview, the Public Independent Conciliator, Mrs Telelen Dorothy Atabong spoused Motaze explained that the selection of candidates for interviews was conducted based on the general rules guiding the recruitment of personnel in the State or public institutions.
She equally explained that in order to determine the representativeness of applicants, application files were classified under the six divisions that make up the South-West Region as well as candidates from other regions of the country
After this phase, the jury composed of members of diverse educational and professional background examined candidates on issues of general knowledge covering current events, the decentralization process and national life. By mid-day Friday, 22nd July most candidates excepting a few who had withdrawn appeared before the duly constituted jury.
It is relevant to underscore that the recruitment exercise was carried in line with the provisions of Article 17 paragraph 3 which states that: ”Recruitments within the Public Independent Conciliator’s office … must reflect the socio-cultural composition of the Region.”
