PIC Urges for Closer Collaboration of Development Actors in the Bakassi Peninsula

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (OPIC), under the leadership of Mme Telelen Dorothy Atabong epse Motaze organised a Town Hall meeting at the Isangele Council Hall on Friday, February 13, 2026. The meeting brought together stakeholders from the five Maritime Municipalities of Isangele, Idabato, Bamusso, Kombo Abedimo and Kombo Itindi. Holding under the theme, “Office of the Public Independent Conciliator: Forging Functional Collaboration with Community Stakeholders of the Maritime Municipalities of Ndian, to Enhance Effective Participation in Local Governance for the Development of their Municipalities”, the meeting aimed at unifying and fostering a working partnership between communities of the Bakassi Peninsula and their Local Authorities.

The meeting, which was presided by Chief Fonju Bernard, Consultant at OPIC and personal representative of the Public Independent Conciliator, had in attendance the Divisional Officer of Isangele and representative of the Senior Divisional Officer for Ndian, the Mayors of Isangele, Bamusso, Kombo Abedimo and Kombo Itindi, Municipal Councillors, Heads of the Isangele Council Services, Traditional and Religious Authorities. Also in attendance were leaders of community, professional and cultural groups from the maritime municipalities.
