The South-West representative of the Civil Peace Service, Dr. Judith Schicklinski, paid a visit to the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (OPIC) in Buea on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025. During the working session with Mme Dr. Schicklinski presented the Civil Peace Service, a program under the German Development Cooperation agency in Cameroon to the Public Independent Conciliator, Mme Telelen Dorothy Motaze. She explained that the program focuses on promoting dialogue, non-violent conflict resolution, youth participation, and mental health, with the goal of strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Cameroon to enhance peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

Mme Motaze provided an overview of OPIC, highlighting its mission to serve as a watchdog for regional and local authorities in the South-West, promoting good governance, social cohesion, and peaceful dispute resolution between users and administrative authorities. She clarified that OPIC does not intervene in disputes between individuals and state services but can make recommendations through its annual report to the Head of State.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Schicklinski expressed interest in identifying CSOs for potential collaboration. She was invited to attend a CSO consultation meeting organized by OPIC at Buea Mountain Hotel on Thursday, 4th September 2025.
