The participation of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator at the 140th International Labour Day Celebration at the Limbe Manga Williams Avenue under the theme: “Social Dialogue and Decent Work: Factors of Peace, National Cohesion and Economic Development of the Company” was full of colour and beauty. The OPIC staff, 22 in number, was led by the Chief Bernard Fonju, Consultant at the Office and very Representative of Madam the PIC, duly and respectfully invited for the occasion. It was 9 am when the OPIC delegation arrived at the Manga Williams Tribune for the formal proceedings which kick started at 10 am upon the arrival of the SDO for Fako Division, Mr. Mviang Mekalla Engelbert, and followed by the singing of the national anthem, speeches, award of labour medals to deserving laureates and the march-past proper of several institutions of the public, para-public and private sectors. Amongst the dignitaries in attendance for the occasion was the SDO for Fako, the Representative of the Madam the PIC, Limbe City Mayor, the Divisional Officers of Limbe I, II and III, the Mayors of Limber I, II and III, General Managers of SONARA, CDC and the Regional Director of BEAC.
Beautifully dressed in their uniform outfits designed with the institution’s fabric, OPIC staff file marched past the Tribune waving peace plants and carrying two banners, one with the name of the institution and a second with the message caption; “Office of the Public Independent Conciliator: Promoting an Inclusive Local Governance that makes the Fulfilment of the Development Aspirations of Citizens a Priority”. It should be noted here that OPIC was participating in this event for its very first time.
