OPIC ENGAGES STUDY TO ENHANCE SCOPE, QUALITY SERVICES DELIVERY TO CITIZENS

As part of measures to achieve its mission of  enhancing good governance and meeting the expectations of citizens for quality services from the Regional Assembly and Council Administrations, the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (OPIC) has sent out agents on an information-gathering mission to some subdivisions of the six divisions of the South-West Region to sample the opinion of the population on their knowledge and use of OPIC as well as the level of satisfaction with regard to the quality of services rendered by the Regional Assembly and council administrations.

As  the instrument to be used for the  collection of  data, the questionnaire seek to capture information on public awareness about the institution (missions, complaint procedure, sensitization activities, services and contact information) and the quality of services delivery by the Regional Assembly and Council Administrations.

The agents assigned for this exercise who are youths drawn from the sub-divisional branches of the Cameroon National Youths Council on Tuesday 13 November 2023 were trained on how to administer the questionnaire. During the training, they were schooled on the different sections of the Questionnaire and adequately briefed on the intended goals to be achieved. They were equally given guidelines on how to select, approach, and convince respondents to fill the questionnaire. In a bid to ascertain if the youths have the aptitude to be up to the task, they were given a litmus test on speaking their vernacular or local language for better communication with respondents in the language they can best understand.

Speaking during the training workshop, the Public Independent Conciliator, Mme Telelen Dorothy Atabong spouse Motaze described the institution as an Office for the population working to ensure good governance at the local level. In this connection she called on the youths who were to be dispatched to the field to do their best for the exercise to meet the expectations of the institution.
