The Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) for the South-West Region, Madam Telelen Dorothy Atabong Spse Motaze, has received the Second Quarter (April–June 2026) monitoring reports on local public service delivery from the Community-Based Liaison Officers (CBLOs) representing the 31 municipalities of the South-West Region.
The report presentation exercise took place on Friday, 24th July 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT). The session was chaired by the PIC was attended by staff of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator as well as pressmen and women.
The reports serve as an important monitoring and evaluation tool, enabling the PIC to assess trends in citizen–local authority relations, identify service delivery gaps, and engage the relevant authorities on issues requiring urgent attention; particularly from registered complaints. They also facilitate evidence-based interventions aimed at improving the quality, accessibility, and responsiveness of local public services. Overall, key observations on service delivery gaps include the low execution rate of projects earmarked under the 2026 PIB, poor state of rural roads, the absence of farm-to-market roads, poor hygiene and sanitation situation particularly around markets, and the need for secondary civil status registration centres within the Akwaya and Alou Council Areas.
In her closing remarks, the Public Independent Conciliator commended the CBLOs for their commitment to objective community-based monitoring and encouraged them to continue providing timely, accurate, and impartial reports. She reiterated that the information gathered through the quarterly reporting mechanism remains indispensable in advancing citizen-centred governance, strengthening accountability, promoting social cohesion, and enhancing public confidence in Regional and Local Authorities.
